overview

Grata

Grata is the top deal sourcing platform for private companies in the middle market.Simply put, Grata allows deal makers of all kinds (private equity, investment bankers, etc.) to identify private companies with strong financials and/or potential, and then reach out to them for an investment deal.

Unlike their competitors, Grata uses an AI and ML-based solution that continuously builds and updates their database. This allows them to stay on top of their industry, compared to the manually-built databases of their competitors.

The Brief

Grata came to us with a simple goal: increase the number of MQLs (demo requests, in their case).

To achieve that goal, we decided to focus on two major verticals: SEO, to increase targeted organic traffic to the website, and CRO, to maximize the conversion rate on the website.

SEO

As with every client, we followed a full-stack SEO approach in the Grata campaign:

Results

Organic Impressions are up by more than 100%.

Increased the website’s Health Score from 14 to 100.

Organic Clicks are up by more than 50%.

The top-performing article on the Grata website was written by our team.

Of the top 14 pages on the Grata website, 8 are SEO content pieces we researched.

SEO Audit - Technical & On-page SEO

First, we started with an SEO Audit on the Grata website. Our SEO Audits cover everything - and when we say everything, we mean it.

We fixed every SEO issue we found, ranging from simple tasks to full-blown technical imploementations. As a result, the website’s Health Score went from 14% to 100%.

Then, through our SEO Audit, we identified many opportunities to optimize the website’s on-page SEO.

When it comes to on-page optimizations, we leave no stone unturned. Meta tags are one of the extremely few low-hanging fruit in SEO, and we maximize their effectiveness for every page on the website.

Comparison Pages

The first campaign we implemented for Grata was a set of comparison pages, comparing their solution to their competitors. These pages were built by the Veza team with conversions as the top priority, but we also invested a lot in their SEO. In fact, all the content of these pages was first researched and outlined by the SEO team, before the Grata team wrote the actual copy.Indeed, today these pages drive a significant number of conversions, they are used with great success for various ad campaigns, and are some of the best-performing pages on the website when it comes to organic traffic.

Product Pages

To support Grata on their business goals, we worked closely to build many other pages as well.
These include product/feature pages, new offerings - like their API page, and more. Each page was first outlined by the SEO team,
then implemented by the Veza web team, and then returned to our team for SEO growth and CRO testing.More than anything else we did for the Grata campaign, these pages have helped the website maximize its topical authority.
Today, we find that almost any piece of content we publish gets traction immediately, and that is thanks to all the topical and semantic coverage we’ve achieved throughout the site.

Blog Content

As we do with every SEO campaign, we provided the Grata team with a Content Strategy full of high-value SEO content topics. To get to these topics, we conducted (very) thorough keyword research, that allowed us to identify various opportunities in their industry.Of course, we don’t only provide topics for writing. We conduct keyword research for each topic separately and pre-define all on-page SEO elements for each piece of content. In addition to these, we give the writer(s) clear instructions on what they need to research and write for each topic.

Link Building

Even though link-building has not been our main focus in the Grata campaign, we’ve still invested time and resources into increasing the authority of the Grata website.

Unlinked Brand Mentions

We scoured the web and found all references to the Grata brand that weren’t actually linked back to the website. This campaign provides a low-hanging fruit opportunity to capture backlinks organically, with a simple outreach email. We’ve also set up automations that let us know any time a new unlinked brand mention pops up, allowing us to capture those as well.

Guest Posting

Throughout the campaign, we’ve published guest posts on various trusted websites, increasing the authority of the Grata website. Each website has been vetted manually, ensuring high-quality links that move the needle and protect the brand’s integrity.

Migration, Content Audit, And More

content migration

Content Migration

We’ve assisted Grata with migrating all their content within the website, in order to consolidate all their resources and streamline their publishing.

To make this happen, we did all the necessary research and technical work to not lose any SEO value from these pages, and we did so successfully. The migration itself was performed by the Veza web team.

ymyl

YMYL

Grata’s website, given that it talks about investment deals, falls dangerously close to the YMYL zone of the Google algorithm.

YMYL stands for “Your Money or Your Life.” YMYL includes topics that could significantly impact someone’s health, financial stability, safety, or well-being. Common YMYL topics include finance, medicine, and current events.

This is why, throughout the campaign, we’ve had to be extremely careful to not get into the YMYL zone, as that could significantlyimpact the website’s rankings. To this day, we’ve done so successfully.

A/B Testing

Throughout our collaboration with Grata, we’ve run a lot of A/B tests. And when we say a lot, we mean it. In fact, we consistently have 3-5 A/B tests running on the website, on various pages, at all times. These include simple changes, like headlines and CTA buttons, and major changes, like new homepage heroes, conversion elements (e.g. popups), and social proof additions.

Our process involves 4 steps:

hypothesis
Hypothesis

This is where we identify potential problems on the website using heatmaps, data, and our own expertise, and come up with CRO tests to support that hypothesis.

tracking
Tracking

There is no CRO without proper tracking. More often than not, it’s not as simple as tracking a button click. You have to think about the deeper impact of every change you make, and then find a way to track that impact.

testing

This is where the actual test happens.
We utilize platforms like Google Optimize (soon to be discontinued) and VWO to conduct our A/B and split testing.

implementation
Implementation

In collaboration with the Veza web team, once a test has won, we implement the changes in the Grata website.

Advanced Tracking

Finally, we’ve worked closely with Grata to implement complicated sign-up flows that support their business goals. We split a single-page demo request form into steps, maximizing the first-step conversions. That allows the Grata team to follow up with more people, and identify more potential business development opportunities.

At the same time, we’ve set up a full-blown Webflow and Hubspot integration that gives the marketing team at Grata the maximum possible insights for any incoming MQL while maximizing the conversion rate on the Grata website.

*Again, a quick disclaimer that this project was completed by the SEO & CRO team at Veza Digital. Dimitris Gkiokas, the CEO of Atropos Digital, is also the SEO & CRO Manager at Veza Digital, and he is the one who spearheaded the full Grata project.*
